We work in small batches, with Italian leather sourced responsibly, and a deep commitment to using every piece of material we touch. Sustainability, for us, has never been a policy. It is simply how we have always worked.

Every Streets Ahead piece is made by hand in our Los Angeles studio, the same city we have called home since 1982. We produce in small batches, by a team of skilled craftspeople who have honed their work over many years.
We do not produce speculatively or hold excess inventory. When you place an order, we begin making your piece. That means no overstock, no unsold goods, and a product made specifically for you.
Making locally also keeps our supply chain short and transparent, and supports skilled craft employment right here in Los Angeles.

Ethically Sourced
Italian leather, responsibly.
We source our leather exclusively from tanneries certified by the Leather Working Group, the global standard for environmental stewardship in leather production. LWG certification ensures responsible water use, chemical handling, and waste management throughout the tanning process.
Every skin is selected by David or Ruth personally on buying trips to Milan, chosen for its quality, character, and how it will wear over time. We purchase leather only after production orders are confirmed, buying what we need for the runs we have committed to. Nothing sits in a warehouse waiting to be used.
The leathers we work with are chosen to last. A Streets Ahead belt should improve with age, not deteriorate.
Zero Waste
Nothing goes to waste.
Cutting leather always produces offcuts. Rather than discarding them, we put every usable piece back to work. When we cut a run of belts in smooth tan leather, for example, hundreds of offcuts from that same hide go directly into a cuff collection made from exactly that leather.
The result is a range of accessories that is consistent in quality and finish, made entirely from material that would otherwise be wasted. Our cuffs, bags, and patchwork pieces are the direct product of how consciously we work through every skin we buy.

The Studio
The same machines. The same craft.
Our studio has evolved over the years, but the people have not. The same core team that built Streets Ahead continues to work here, growing as the brand grows, bringing new people into a craft they know deeply. The knowledge does not leave when someone walks out the door.
Every belt that leaves our studio has been touched, shaped, and checked by hand at every stage. There is no automation here. It is slower, and it is better.

We build every belt to get better with age. The leather softens and develops character. The hardware patinas. The fit becomes yours. Our belts are not replaced because they wear out. They are added to because you want something new.
A Streets Ahead belt is a collector piece. When you come back for another, it is because you want a different style, a new leather, a second buckle you have been thinking about. Not because the first one let you down.
